Soul Awakening: With Janet Zenik

Janet Zenik has spent much of her life exploring connection, expression and intuition, first through movement and the stage, and later through her work as an intuitive and medium. Her roots are in dance and musical theatre.

After years of dance training and performing in theatre productions, she went on to build a professional career in the Canadian entertainment industry. Her career included work with Mirvish Productions and Drayton Entertainment, performances on some of Canada’s leading stages, and the opportunity to perform alongside legendary entertainer Mickey Rooney. She worked twice with five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, Susan Stroman.

Dance remained an important part of Janet’s creative life as she moved from performer to choreographer and educator. After returning to her hometown to raise her family, she choreographed numerous musical-theatre productions and became active in the local performing-arts community. Her credits include “Hairspray” at Kitchener’s Centre in the Square and “A Little Princess.” More recently, she choreographed Royal City Musical Productions’ 2025 production of “Legally Blonde.” Janet founded a youth performance program designed to give young performers the experience of learning their craft through the rehearsal and performance of live musical theatre.

Janet’s life eventually took an unexpected turn. She describes experiencing what she came to understand as a “Soul Awakening.”  A period that led her to explore and develop her intuitive and mediumship abilities. That journey ultimately opened an entirely new chapter in her life and work. Today, Janet works as an intuitive and medium and continues to explore questions of connection, creativity and human experience. She has also created and hosted “Talking To The Dead.” A podcast and YouTube series focused on mediumship and spirit communication. Although dance and intuition may appear to belong to very different worlds, Janet’s story connects them in an intriguing way. Both have asked her to listen closely, trust instinct, remain present, and respond to something that cannot always be planned in advance. Her journey from professional dancer and choreographer to intuitive, offers a unique perspective on creativity, instinct, and what it means to learn to trust yourself.
