On this episode, award-winning multidisciplinary artist Peter Chin shares about his work as the founder and artistic director of the dance-driven interdisciplinary company Tribal Crackling Wind, and the NKK Dance Centre, an international dance and spiritual performance centre in Siem Reap Cambodia.
About Peter Chin:
Peter Chin is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, born in Jamaica in 1962 and based in Toronto and Cambodia. He is a choreographer/dancer, composer/musician, writer, filmmaker, and designer.
Chin is the founder and artistic director of dance-driven interdisciplinary company Tribal Crackling Wind, and co-founder of NKK Dance Centre, an international dance and spiritual performance centre in Siem Reap Cambodia. He has received the Muriel Sherrin award for International Achievement in Dance, a Gemini award for his performance in the Nick DePencier film ‘Streetcar’, and five Dora Mavor Moore performing arts awards, among many others.
Chin’s film ‘Jamaican’ was the winner of Best Documentary at the 2017 Caribbean Lens Film Festival Los Angeles, and the film was also part of the exhibit ‘Circles and Circuits Chinese Caribbean Art’ at the Chinese American Museum in California. Chin’s works have also been presented throughout Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Colombia, Holland, the UK, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Taiwan, and Japan.
